Five Simple Tips to Keep in Mind When Evaluating Credit Card Processing Fees
Any company that processes a significant portion of sales via credit cards should evaluate their current provider and try to get some quotes from new vendors.
- Fees vary between service providers. The lowest flat rate is not necessarily the best deal. Read the contract carefully and look for transactions that are classified as "non-qualifying" in the agreement.
- Equipment is not necessarily included with the service. If you don't already have processing equipment as part of your point of sale hardware, you may need to purchase or lease it from your vendor.
- Float is the time the processing company may hold onto your money before it makes its way to your bank account. A certain amount of lag time is necessary for fraud protection, but the rest of the time, your money may be sitting earning interest for your vendor. You should not have to pay a higher rate for a quicker turnaround.
- Security also varies among solutions. Look for a system that is certified to be compliant with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards. Merchants that rely upon their banks for compliance are exposing themselves to potential liability because credit card data may only be protected once it leaves the merchant's systems. Sage customers can leverage integrated tools that protect credit card data through every step of the transaction on the payments side.
- Find out if there is a reduced monthly rate if you reach a certain number of transactions or if there are any other discounts that might be related to volume. At the same time make sure that there are no additional fees if you do not meet a certain monthly quota.

Five Guidelines to Adopt Basic Elements of Quality Control
The ISO body has established a set of guidelines to make sure the basic elements of quality control in any company are in place, and no matter where the company resides these principles are adhered to.
When evaluating quality management systems, select software that will allow you to setup benchmarks on built-in metrics, in the software. Since this software will be used on a day to day basis, you want to be able to have real time access to the data, needed to compile the metrics.
The software should allow you to establish and save benchmarks, and give you the ability to graph and present objectives, to show compliance to the standard.

uniPoint quality management software manages the life cycle of quality control and improvement efforts in an organization. It is designed to handle the challenges of quality management standards in the manufacturing and distribution industries, medical devices and life sciences industry, food and beverage industry, aerospace and defense industry, automotive industry and oil and gas and chemical industries.
However, a quality management system is applicable to any company that has a continuous improvement initiative in place. A good example of such organizations are educational institutions.
